DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The woman critically injured in a shooting Saturday night told Dorchester County deputies her husband "shot [her] for no reason" when they arrived on scene, a report states.
According to the report released by the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office on Monday, 58-year-old Michael Eugene Mims shot his wife twice in the face, twice in the chest, and once in the arm around 8:30 p.m. at their home on Parlor Drive, located in the Tranquil Hill Plantation community of Ladson.
As soon as they approached the victim, the report states she told officers "her husband shot her for no reason and was still inside."
The report states deputies found the woman across the street from her home, and followed a trail of blood to an open front door. Inside the home, Mims was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Live5News.com called the Medical University of South Carolina on Monday to inquire about the victim's updated condition. We were told that information would not be released.
