CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say the search for a 65-year-old man last seen last Friday has ended after his body was found near Charles Towne Landing.

Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said the body of Richard Sloane was found Tuesday in Old Creek, near Charles Towne Landing, by an employee of the historic site.

Crews had been searching for Sloane on the Ashley River between City Marina and Bristol Marina.

Sloane had been last seen near the Ashley River Bridge working on his boat. Police say Sloane friend waved down an officer at around 11:45 Saturday morning to report him missing.

The friend told the officer that he had not been in contact with Sloane since Friday.
