BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - According to the Berkeley County School District, a criminal domestic charge against a school employee has been dropped.

School officials say charges against Clarence Leland Hawkins, who was the principal of Sedgefield Intermediate in Goose Creek at the time of his arrest in December, have been dropped.

District officials say Hawkins is now an assistant principal at Devon Forest Elementary in Goose Creek.

According to officials, the school district learned that the criminal charge had been dismissed while Hawkins was on administrative leave during the investigation.

Hawkins' arrest stems from an incident on Dec. 30, 2012, when authorities responded to an apartment at the Willows apartments on Remount Road.

Police say a 47-year-old woman, Hawkins' ex-girlfriend, said that Hawkins had pushed her in the chest as he was coming inside her apartment to retrieve a watch. According to the woman, Hawkins was "pushing things" around the house in attempt to locate the watch.
