DANIEL ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Bishop England High School is ramping up security measures in an effort to ensure the safety of students and faculty.

School officials announced Thursday they will be installing more video cameras around campus, and police officers are invited to come and go throughout the day.

Additionally, teachers will now be able to lock the doors of their classrooms from the inside, and some interior and exterior doors will be secured with computer-controlled locks.

The new security features will also make it tougher for visitors to enter the school. Parents will be required to push a button for entrance into the school, and must then show an I.D.

Officials say Bishop England's campus will be secured each day by 4 p.m., and any students remaining on campus at that time must be with a member of staff.
