WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - A 22-year-old woman attempted to jump out of a car driven by her ex-boyfriend who police say kidnapped her from an apartment complex in Walterboro.

The Walterboro Public Safety Department charged 23-year-old Latrell Bernard Fryar with kidnapping and criminal domestic violence.

The victim told officers she was visiting her cousin at the Walterboro Village Apartments when Fryar called her and said that he wanted to talk to her.

Authorities say when she got into Fryar's car, the suspect drove off. The victim said she kept telling Fryar to take her back to the apartment complex, but Fryar said, "No."

An incident report states Fryar also slapped her on several occasions.

According to the victim, she attempted to jump out of the vehicle as the car was turning at a slow speed, but Fryar grabbed her by the hair and pulled her back into the vehicle.

Police say Fryar kept the victim in the vehicle for 35 to 40 minutes and dropped her off on Greenpond Highway and took off.

Investigators say while the victim was walking back to the apartment complex, she had a panic attack from the incident and was transported to the hospital.

Authorities found Fryar the following day and arrested him.

Fryar has two children with the victim, according to the report.
