Coroner identifies elderly couple from Kiawah murder-suicide
KIAWAH ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the husband and wife who died in a murder-suicide on Kiawah Island early Wednesday.
The coroner identified the victims as 84-year-old Barbara Reese and 77-year-old Thomas Reese, who both died from a gunshot wound.
According to Major Jim Brady with the sheriff's office, deputies responded to 78 Forestay Court on Kiawah Island just after 7 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a murder-suicide at a home.
The incident report states the couple were found lying in separate single beds next to one another.
Brady said Thomas Reese shot his wife and then himself. A silver revolver was found laying on the husband's chest.
According to the report, it appears they both died from gunshot wounds to the head.
The couple reportedly had medical issues, and the husband was concerned over the wife's quality of living if he died from his medical condition, Brady said.
