Boeing employee critically injured in fall from platform

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a Boeing employee was critically injured during a fall from a mobile platform at the plant on Monday night.

According to Charleston County EMS Director Don Lundy, emergency officials responded to the Boeing plant around 11:15 p.m. Monday to treat a worker who fell.

Lundy said one employee was taken to Medical University of South Carolina for treatment of critical injuries.

Boeing released the following statement on Wednesday:

On Monday night, March 18, a Boeing teammate was injured when he fell from a mobile platform in Composite Fabrication. First responders and Boeing EMS were on the scene immediately, and the teammate was taken to the hospital and admitted for treatment and observation. In light of privacy rights for our teammates, we do not comment on their medical status.

The safety and well being of our teammates is a top priority of Boeing South Carolina. In keeping with our comprehensive safety plan and internal processes, we are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident and any corrective actions that might be required.
