NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police say they have arrested the suspect who shot a man during an argument and rode off on a bicycle in March.

Police spokesman Spencer Pryor said officers arrested 28-year-old Mario Archield on Thursday.  He is charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Police say Archield shot a 24-year-old man near Cosmopolitan Street and Echo Avenue on Mar. 19.  Officers responded to the shooting to find the victim sitting on the ground with a witness holding a rag to his left leg which had been shot.

The victim told police he was standing in the roadway talking to his brother when he heard a gunshot and felt pain in his leg.

Another witness came forward and told officers that an argument caused the shooting. The witness said the suspect came up to the victim, his brother and the original witness and an argument started.

Police say Archield then pulled out a gun, shot the victim in the leg and rode off on a beach cruiser bicycle.

Archield is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.  He is expected to appear in court for a bond hearing on Friday.
