LADSON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has charged the man they say caused a school bus wreck on Ladson Road with driving under the influence.

According to sheriff's office spokesperson Major Jim Brady, 60-year-old Samuel D. Brown, of Ladson, is charged with DUI and open container.  Brady said Brown was still in the hospital and is scheduled to appear in court on May 2.

Several others, including five students from R.B. Stall High School, were injured in the crash which happened at Ladson and Lincolnville roads a little after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Brady, Brown was driving a Chrysler sedan when he collided with a trailer being pulled by a Ford F-150 pickup.  The collision caused the truck to veer into the path of the school bus which struck the truck.

The driver in the pickup was also hospitalized, Brady said.  All injuries were minor.

Brady said several containers of beer were found in Brown's vehicle.
