Deputies still looking for suspect who hit horse, rider near Adams Run

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is still looking for information in a hit-and-run that killed a horse and injured a rider in Adams Run in late March.

Deputies responded to the area of Hwy 174 near Dawhoo Road on Mar. 30 in reference to a vehicle striking a horse and rider.

Authorities say the rider was thrown from the horse after the impact, and the vehicle, believed to be a Ford F-150 pickup, fled the scene.  Deputies said the pickup appeared to be a 2001-2003 model.

An incident report states the rider sustained non-life threatening injuries and the horse sustained fatal injuries and died on the scene.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office traffic squad is investigating the accident and anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information regarding the vehicle involved is asked to contact the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111
