BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 31-year-old man after deputies found drugs and a gun in a car following a traffic stop.

Investigators charged Brian DeWayne Montgomery with trafficking cocaine, simple possession of marijuana, unlawful carrying of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Last Friday, investigators stopped a Nissan Altima in the area of Laurel Bay Road in Beaufort.

Investigators say after they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car, a sheriff's office canine responded to the scene and alerted deputies to the presence of drugs in the car.

An incident report states authorities found 25 grams of cocaine, 8 grams of marijuana, a .22 caliber gun and drug paraphernalia.
