Coroner identifies body found in Ravenel

RAVENEL, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the body found in Ravenel Friday morning.

The coroner's office identified the victim as 67-year-old James Butler of Ravenel. Authorities say the cause of death is still under investigation.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says injuries on Butler's body appears to be consistent of a homicide.

Sheriff's office spokesman Major Jim Brady said his body was found by two children who were playing hide and seek in a wood line behind a vacant home at 6021 Roper Run Road Extension Friday morning.

Detectives are working to determine a motive and to piece together details of the death.
