SC Sen. Sheheen to run for governor, again
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - In what could be a rematch of their bout in 2010, South Carolina Senator Vincent Sheheen has announced his intentions to run for governor against Governor Nikki Haley.
In an e-mail sent to supporters Wednesday morning, Sheheen says South Carolina "deserves better than the failed and dysfunctional government it has received from our current politicians."
"In the coming months, we'll build our organization and officially launch the campaign this summer," said Sheheen. "Three years ago, we came so very close to changing South Carolina for the better. Now we can finish the job together."
Sheheen has been busy crisscrossing the state to build a network of support on what many saw as definite signs of his interest in running for the office again.
Most recently, Sheheen toured the state to tout his new book, The Right Way, which lays out several of his proposals.
Of course, Sheheen still has to get through the Democratic primary process. However, no other Democrat has said whether or not they intend to seek the nod as well.
