NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police say they have arrested a 48-year-old man who used a razor blade to slice the face of his child's mother during an altercation.
Cyril Angus Richardson of North Charleston was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and kidnapping.
According to a report, police were called out to an apartment on Success Street around 12:40 a.m. Thursday in response to a woman who was attacked by her child's father.
Police say the victim was holding a blood soaked washcloth to her face. The victim had cut to the right side of her face from her nose to her upper lip.
A witness on the scene told police Richardson had been threatening the victim throughout the day with phone calls and text messages, as well as following the victim around various locations.
Police say Richardson grabbed the victim when she walked out of her apartment and drug her to 3211 Spruill Avenue using a straight razor. The victim was cut at some point during the altercation.
Witnesses say they could hear the two arguing, and later saw the two running away in different directions.
A pool of blood was found in front of 3211 Spruill Avenue, the report states. The blood led back to the victim's apartment.
Police say Richardson called police around 2:25 a.m. to meet with officers. The suspect was seen peeking around a corner when officers arrived, and was then arrested.
Richardson told police the victim tried to attack him with the razor blade, and she was injured when he pushed her away, the report states.
According to the report, Richardson is the victim's ex boyfriend and the two have a 5-month-old child. The former couple do not live together.
Richardson is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center on an $800,000 bond.
