Police, sheriff's office investigating shots fired in West Ashley

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County Sheriff's deputies were called out to the Kangaroo Convenience store on Main Road on Johns Island in reference to a shooting Wednesday around 7 p.m.

When deputies arrived, witnesses told them they saw two vehicles leaving the scene.

Authorities say one of the vehicles involved in the shooting was stopped on I-526 eastbound near Highway 61. Authorities were also spotted on I-526 near the Paul Cantrell Boulevard exit taking two men into custody. Investigators were able to determine that a shooting victim was dropped off at St. Francis Hospital in that vehicle.

According to deputies, the victim sustained minor injuries in the shooting.

Deputies were able to locate another vehicle and individual involved in the shooting at a residence off Walpole Way on Johns Island.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the shooting and what roles the individuals played in the incident.
