CVS offering $1,000 for info on Johns Island robbery suspects
JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - CVS is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the two men who robbed a Johns Island CVS pharmacist for Oxycontin last week.
According to the Charleston Police Department, the robbery happened just before 10 p.m. at the CVS in the 2800 block of Maybank Highway.
The cashier said two disguised men, one of average height and one shorter, walked in the store and ignored her greeting. She said the shorter suspect headed straight for the pharmacy counter while the taller suspect stood in the second aisle.
The pharmacist told police she was on the phone with a friend when the man standing between 5'3" and 5'6" walked up and held up a piece of white paper. The pharmacist said the only word on the paper she focused on was "Oxycontin" or "Oxycodone." She said she told her friend she was being robbed, and began backing up in fear.
The suspect then said, "This is really happening […] You have 30 seconds! Oxycontin!"
When the pharmacist handed some pills to the suspect, he asked, "Is that all?" She returned to the safe and grabbed more pills. She then gave them to the suspect, who yelled "Woohoo!" as he fled the store.
Pictures show the two suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts and dark-colored pants. The cashier told police she thought the shorter suspect looked as if he had "fake hair or a big afro" under the hoodie because of its bulk.
The pharmacist said the shorter suspect was wearing a black cloth across his face. No witnesses were able to determine the race or approximate ages of the suspects.
The shorter suspect, wearing a brown jacket, stood 5'5" to 5'7", and the taller suspect, wearing a blue or black jacket, was 5'10" to 5'11" tall.
