BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says a mother and her two children suffered no injuries after a man fired several shots into their home Sunday night.

Just before midnight, deputies responded to an apartment complex on Southwood Park Drive for a report of shots fired.

The 22-year-old woman said she was sitting on the couch with her 4-month-old son when she heard a noise outside. The victim said when she saw the silhouette of a man outside, she quickly closed the door.

Investigators say the suspect then fired multiple shots into the apartment. The victim then took cover with her child and waited until the gunfire stopped.

Authorities say the victim then checked on her other child, a 5-year-old boy, who was sleeping upstairs. The family sustained no injuries. The home suffered $1500 in damage from the gunfire. The sheriff's office is continuing the investigation.
