SPARTANBURG, SC (WYFF) - An Upstate woman was arrested after she chased a man with a screwdriver in her hand, hit him with one of her crutches and hit him with a car a few times, according to police.
Capt. Art Littlejohn with Spartanburg Public Safety said police were called to the area of Highland and Henry streets just before 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said a woman, later identified as 39-year-old Eingar Lucretia Hughes, was chasing a man with a screwdriver.
Officers said the man was running away as Hughes shouted, "I'm going to kill him."
Authorities say Hughes eventually dropped the screwdriver and they were able to stop her, but they said she had already hit the 34-year-old man with her one of her crutches. According to police, Hughes was wearing a walking boot from a previous injury.
Officers said Hughes had also chased the man with her vehicle for half a mile and hit him with the vehicle a few times. They said Hughes had run over a stop sign while she was trying to run over the victim.
The victim suffered leg and head injuries and had a laceration on his hand, police said. He was transported to Spartanburg Medical Center.
Police said the disagreement stemmed from the victim and Hughes' previous relationship. Investigators said the couple had planned to get married, but the victim married another woman instead.
Police said Hughes will be charged with attempted murder.
