Police searching for shooting suspect in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department is on the lookout for a suspect who shot a man on Friday.

Officers responded to the roadway in front of 1741 Lester St. in reference to a person who had been shot.

Authorities then found the 36-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso and stomach area.

The victim was transported to MUSC.

A police report states witnesses heard gunshots in the area and heard an argument between two individuals.

Investigators describe the suspect as a tall, thin black male who was wearing a black hat. Detectives are continuing the investigation.

School officials say School of the Arts, Academic Magnet, Liberty Hill, Dunston and Charleston Progressive were placed on lockdown following the incident.
