CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say a man suspected of damaging a woman's car threatened to kill her and made an obscene gesture in court as a jury was getting ready to hear the case.
The Charleston Police Department charged 43-year-old Maxton Johnson on Monday with intimidation.
On May 6, the victim told investigators that she was in a courtroom at the Charleston Municipal Court Building on Lockwood Boulevard waiting for a pending jury trial when Johnson threatened her.
The victim said Johnson told her,"You think it's over, it's not over, (expletive). I'm going to kill you."
According to the victim, Johnson stuck out his middle finger at her. Authorities say an attorney for an unrelated case witnessed the incident.
CPD officials say Maxton and the victim were in court for a case where Maxton is accused of damaging the victim's vehicle.
