Trident Tech student charged with bringing gun to school

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A student at Trident Technical College was arrested Tuesday for bringing a gun on campus, police say.
According to court documents, Trident Technical College Public Safety officers arrested 25-year-old Blake Mims at the Rivers Avenue campus a little before 7 p.m. Officers responded to room 130 in the school's 510 building after receiving reports of a student having a handgun.
Officers frisked the suspect, Mims, and found a .40-caliber handgun, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. He was charged with possession of a firearm on school property.
Mims was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center. He was issued a $50,000 bond on Wednesday morning.
