NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A student at Trident Technical College was arrested Tuesday for bringing a gun on campus, police say.

According to court documents, Trident Technical College Public Safety officers arrested 25-year-old Blake Mims at the Rivers Avenue campus a little before 7 p.m.  Officers responded to room 130 in the school's 510 building after receiving reports of a student having a handgun.

Officers frisked the suspect, Mims, and found a .40-caliber handgun, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.  He was charged with possession of a firearm on school property.

Mims was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.  He was issued a $50,000 bond on Wednesday morning.
