Troopers: 2 die after hitting ditch in Georgetown Co.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is a investigating a double-fatal crash that occurred around midnight in Georgetown County Sunday.

Troopers say the driver of a 2007 Infiniti was traveling south on Dunbar Road, when they ran off the left side of the road and struck a ditch and overturned several times.

According Highway Patrol, the driver was ejected out of the vehicle and the passenger was entrapped.

Authorities say both the driver and the passenger were not wearing their seat belts. The driver was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and the passenger had to be airlift to the Medical University of South Carolina.

Troopers say both victims died at the hospitals.

The Georgetown County Coroner's Office has not released the identities of the victims.

The accident is under investigation with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
