WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Investigators are looking for two people who made a reservation at a Chinese restaurant for 35 people and made off with $6,000.

On Sunday night, Walterboro Public Safety responded to the China Buffet on 2056 Bells Hwy in reference to a stolen money bag.

An employee at the restaurant said it all started when a female subject came into the business and told her it was her birthday, and 35 members of her family were coming to the restaurant for a party.

The staff at the restaurant then started preparing for the party leaving only one employee at the front of the business.

A police report states as the employee was sitting behind the counter, he was called to another suspect who began asking questions.

Surveillance footage showed a male subject standing at the front counter, while a female subject went behind the front counter and started to search the counter.

Authorities say the suspects stole $6,000, credit cards, a debit card, a social security card and a driver's license.

If you have any information you are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
