JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Fire investigators have determined the blaze which damaged Crave restaurant and another business on Johns Island Monday was electrical in nature.

St. Johns Fire and Rescue Captain Chad Kelly said investigators determined the fire originated from an outlet in a storage room adjacent to the kitchen.

Firefighting crews responded to reports of a restaurant fire at 4430B Betsy Kerrison Parkway around 6:15 a.m. When they arrived, firefighters encountered flames in the kitchen, Captain Chad Kelly said.  Smoke was seen coming from the eaves.

The fire was extinguished a short time later, as all lanes of the parkway were closed near Resurrection Road.

Crave shares a building with Beachwalker Rentals, located at 4430C Betsy Kerrison Road.  The company was also affected by the fire.

The fire caused significant delays for motorists heading to and from Kiawah and Seabrook islands.

No one was at the restaurant at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters remained on scene to investigate. Traffic was back to normal by mid-morning.
