COPY-6 rescued after boat hits rocks at Fort Sumter

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Six people have been rescued after their boat ran up on the rocks at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported ( that fire department spokesman Bianca Sancic says the accident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Department of Natural Resources and Charleston police also responded.

Crews on jet skis from Sullivan's Island tried to pull the boat off the rocks, but were unsuccessful.

Rescue crews on the island tied ropes to the boat and pulled it onto the shore, allowing all six passengers to get out.

No one was hurt.
