Resolution to censure Folly Beach council member set aside
FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - A resolution to censure Folly Beach's Mayor Pro Tem for misconduct and strip him of the title has been set aside. It was not presented to the city council Tuesday night.
Eddie Ellis says the agenda that was sent to several media outlets on July 3rd was a "draft" agenda, not meant to go out.
According to Ellis' lawyer, there was only "talk" of a resolution to censure Ellis and remove him as Mayor Pro Tem. He says as far as he knows, there is no resolution. The item on the "draft" agenda came weeks after a heated exchange between Mayor Tim Goodwin and Ellis about city matters, including the resignation of the city's administrator.
The Mayor and a few council members had no comment about the censure. One council member did say he expects the issue to "rear its ugly head again."
The city's budget was also on the "draft" agenda, but was not discussed Tuesday night. It's expected to be on the agenda later this month.
