CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police say they have charged a couple in connection with a purse-snatching in downtown Charleston late last month.

Police department spokesman Charles Francis said investigators charged 42-year-old Kenneth Campbell and 39-year-old Natasha Richardson with strong-armed robbery for the June 24 incident near the corner of King and Spring streets.

Police say the victim was pushing her bicycle on King Street when she was approached from behind by Campbell, who grabbed her purse.  Campbell then ran across a grass field and left in a vehicle parked on Spring Street.

Both suspects were arrested Tuesday and taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
