NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Three women accused of stealing $1500 in hair weaves from a beauty shop in North Charleston have surrendered to police.

Officials with the North Charleston Police Department says 22-year-old Danielle Dupree and 20-year-old Jessica Renee White turned themselves in on Wednesday. Tysia Dunmeyer, 18, surrendered to authorities on Thursday.

Investigators charged all three women with shoplifting. According to police reports, the women turned themselves in at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The trio are suspected of stealing hair weaves at the Star Beauty Plus in North Charleston on June 25. According to store owners, four women came into their store, and went straight for the hair weaves behind the register.

"A bag of it costs anywhere from a $100, to $200, to $300," says Jessica Hong, who owns the store with her husband.

Hong says two of the women kept her husband busy, another woman was a lookout, and she says the woman in the striped dress went behind the counter and allegedly stole several packages of top of the line Brazilian hair weaves.

"He couldn't really see them going behind the counter from over here because the other two ladies kept talking to him and asking him questions."

Hong says 12 to 14 packages were stolen right below their 16 surveillance cameras. She estimates they lost $1500.

"Theft with hair, it happens all the time, and I just don't think that people are aware of the growing problem that we have, not just in Charleston, but all over," says Hong.

Hong says the women were calm and quick, leading her to believe this wasn't their first time.
