Women accused of shoplifting at downtown clothing stores

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department has arrested two women accused of shoplifting at two clothing stores in downtown.

On Sunday afternoon, police responded to American Apparel on 348 King St. in reference to a shoplifting. Officers met with an employee at the clothing store and the store manager of Factor Five at 283 Meeting St.

Store employees said 24-year-old Grace Elizabeth Giles had stolen numerous items from both stores.

According to investigators, Giles was found with four headbands, a  bag, two pairs of sunglasses and a necklace, all of which were stolen from Factor Five. Authorities say during a search of Giles' purse, officers found several syringes and small bags.

Police say a second suspect, 23-year-old Leah Kathryn Morrow, was found with a headband and a necklace stolen from Factor Five. A police report states a hypodermic needle and a bag containing .01 grams of heroin were also found in Morrow's purse.

Morrow was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers charged Giles with shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
