CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say they arrested the manager of a downtown shoe store after she admitted to taking $500 worth of merchandise.

The Charleston Police Department arrested 24-year-old Mallory Jean Hanback of the Isle of Palms.

On Tuesday afternoon, police responded to the Aldo shoe store on 297 King St in reference to a larceny.

A district manager told authorities that she noticed that many items had been taken from the store over the last few months.

According to the district manager,  Hanback, who is the store manager, admitted to taking many of the items and was currently wearing shoes, valued at $70, that she took from the store.

Authorities say the other items taken included four other pairs of shoes, four necklaces and a purse. The total value of the items taken is $500, according to police.

Police say Hanback admitted to taking the items and said she was planning on paying for the items. Hanback said she "hadn't gotten around to it."

Hanback was then arrested for breach of trust.
