Police: Man hospitalized after being struck by concrete mixer

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 55-year-old man is in the hospital after police say he was struck by a concrete mixer in downtown.
On Thursday at 12:29 p.m., the Charleston Police Department received a report of an accident involving a pedestrian on King Street Extension.
Responding officers were told the pedestrian was struck by a concrete mixer as it pulled onto the construction site on 1451 King Street Extension.
The pedestrian was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina by EMS crews due to the "severity of the injuries" he sustained.
Police are continuing the investigation.
