BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Ladson man is behind bars accused of vandalizing two downtown restaurants and stealing vodka.
The Charleston Police Department charged 42-year-old Stephen Robert Elliott on Sunday with second-degree burglary.
Elliott's arrest stems from an incident on the morning of July 23 when police responded to the Mad River Bar and Grille on 32 N. Market Street for a report of a burglary.
A man told officers that when he arrived at the business to do construction work, he discovered a broken bottle of vodka on top of the steps. According to police, the door to the restaurant had also been vandalized.
Police say a bottle of vodka was found in small pieces on the porch outside of the business.
According to investigators, the Market Street Saloon door was also vandalized. Both businesses share the same outside porch.
A police report states the total damages to both doors totaled $150, and six bottles of vodka, worth $240, had been taken.
Elliott was already locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center on unrelated charges when he was charged for the restaurant burglary.
