CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Comcast service has been restored in various areas throughout the Lowcountry following an outage that started Tuesday afternoon.
According to Comcast officials, a severed fiber cable on Highway 17 left many customers without service. Residents in the Lowcountry including areas of Berkeley County, Mt. Pleasant , North Charleston and downtown reported outages.
At 9 p.m., Comcast officials said crews were in the process of repairing the cable and anticipated that service would be restored in the next couple of hours.
Around 9:30 p.m., customers reported services being restored.
In May, customers throughout the area also experienced an outage with their Comcast service. Comcast officials say in that outage, construction crews doing work on a bridge along Highway 17 had cut a fiber optic cable which led to an outage that lasted hours.
