Elderly Bluffton couple found shot in home

BLUFFTON, SC - Officials say a Bluffton man was found dead in his home from a possibly self-inflicted gunshot wound, and his wife was also shot.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office discovered the couple shot about 3 p.m. Friday at their home on General Hardee Way in Sun City.

Robert Jacobson, 85, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Roslyn Jacobson, was taken to Coastal Carolina Hospital and then Memorial University Medical Center, where she remained in critical condition Saturday.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and processed the home for forensic evidence. The gun was found near Robert Jacobsen and preliminary findings determined that his gunshot wound was self-inflicted, according to the BCSO.

Deputies haven't determined cause of Roslyn Jacobson's gunshot wound. A forensic autopsy of Robert Jacobson is scheduled for Aug. 3 at the Medical University of South Carolina.
