GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Officials say the scene is clear at the Goose Creek Walmart after reports of a suspicious package in the store Friday morning.
Goose Creek Police Department and the Charleston County Bomb Squad were called out to Walmart on 605 St. James Avenue on Friday around 7:26 a.m. A robot and a member of the bomb squad entered the building to inspect the package.
Captain John Grainger with the Goose Creek Police Department says Walmart employees and customers were evacuated from the building after a box was found in a shopping cart near the grocery entrance.
Grainger says a ticking noise could be heard coming from the box.
Investigators would not get in to specifics, but did confirm the building is safe, and employees were allowed to re-enter the building around 9:45 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
