Myrtle Beach man accused of sexually assaulting woman at downtown home
CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 23-year-old Myrtle Beach man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a home in downtown Charleston early Tuesday morning.
Investigators charged Ryan Tillman Thrasher with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
On Tuesday at 5:30 a.m., the Charleston Police Department responded to a home on Pitt Street in reference to a sexual assault. Police met with the victim, a 21-year-old woman, who said she had woken up in her bed and found an unknown male having sex with her.
The victim told investigators that she thought it was her boyfriend, but then realized it was not.
According to the victim, when she asked who the man was, the subject said his name was Ryan and they had met in a bar. The victim said the suspect's statement was not true.
Authorities say the victim then got out of her bed and told friends what had happened.
Police also interviewed one of the roommates who said the victim had banged on her bedroom door, and when she opened her door she saw the victim crying in the living room.
The roommate told police that she then saw her friend, Thrasher, gathering his belongings "as if to leave in a hurry."
An incident report states when the victim told the roommate what had happened in her bedroom, the roommate told Thrasher to leave the home.
The roommate told police that Ryan was a friend of hers who she allowed to sleep on their couch for the evening.
