15-year-old charged for Walterboro armed robbery

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Walterboro Public Safety officers arrested one teen and are looking for another accused of robbing a 35-year-old man at gunpoint early Monday.

Officers say 17-year-old Irvin Sanders and his 15-year-old accomplice robbed a man on Sniders Highway around 12:30 a.m.

The man told officers he was heading to the store to get cigarettes when one teen approached and asked if he could have change for a dollar.  The man said he reached into his pocket, at which time another teen walked up behind him and pointed a gun at his head.

The alleged victim said the suspects, wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts, walked him over to a nearby parking lot and stole $140 in cash and his cell phone.

After speaking with the man, officers said they canvassed the area and found the 15-year-old suspect.  The teen was charged with armed robbery and transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
