FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the cyclist who died following a collision with an SUV on Folly Beach.
The victim was identified as 47-year-old Stanley Borkowski, who lived on the island. He died from head trauma.
Charleston County Sheriff's Major Jim Brady said Borkowski was struck just before 5 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of East Cooper Avenue and 5th Street East. Brady said Borkowski ran a stop sign on his bicycle and collided with a 2007 Hyundai SUV.
He was taken to Medical University of South Carolina for treatment of life-threatening injuries and later died.
No charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the SUV.
