Woman arrested on felony DUI charge after fatal wreck; victim ID'd

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Ridgeville woman was charged with felony DUI early Thursday after troopers say she caused a fatal accident on Highway 78.

South Carolina Highway Patrol arrested 29-year-old Andrea Miller following the wreck which happened at a construction zone around 3:15 a.m. near Orangeburg Road. According to authorities, 56-year-old Vickie Bryant was stopped behind a dump truck in her 2002 Buick, obeying the commands of a construction worker.

Troopers said Miller, driving a 2010 Hyundai, crashed into Bryant's Buick, pushing it into the rear of the dump truck. Bryant was wearing a seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Miller was taken to Trident Hospital for treatment and was then booked at the Dorchester County Detention Center, troopers said.

The dump truck driver was not injured.
