GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - United States Army soldiers were in Goose Creek Tuesday to present a special jersey to a standout high school football player.
Stratford quarterback Jacob Park received his official invitation to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game during a jersey presentation ceremony at the high school Tuesday.
The University of Georgia commit will take the field with other elite All-Americans at the annual East vs. West battle on Saturday, January 4 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Presenting Park with his All-American Bowl jersey were Staff Sergeant Brad Fields, Command Sergeant Major Robby Simmons, Colonel Sam Blanton and Sergeant David Speakman.
"Park is a talented athlete whose leadership and teamwork qualities have made him a standout at Stratford High School," said Mark Davis, deputy assistant Secretary of the Army for Marketing.
Park, who is ranked the 5th best quarterback in the nation by Rivals, has lead Stratford to a 7-0 record so far this season.
As part of his selection, Park's head coach, Ray Stackley, is invited to San Antonio to take part in the three-day U.S. Army Coaches Academy, as well as other bowl events.
