Body of missing swimmer found on Hilton Head Island

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The body of a man was found between Burke's Beach and Folly Field Saturday night on Hilton Head Island according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called out to the scene around 9:45 p.m. after the victim went swimming and did not return.

According to deputies, alcohol was consumed by the victim before he entered the water.

Investigators say at this time the man's death appears to be an accidental drowning with no foul play suspected. The victim's identity has not been released at this time.

This incident remains under investigation with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
