CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A College of Charleston student who beat a law school student unconscious following an argument at a bar earlier this month has been arrested, according to the Charleston Police Department.

Conor Boyle, 21, is charged with second degree assault and battery.

Police say Boyle and his friends got into an argument with a group of people in front of a bar on King Street on October 12 around 2 a.m.

After the altercation was broken up, officers say Boyle and his friends waited at the corner of King and Cannon streets for the group. When the group arrived, Boyle "body slammed" the victim on the sidewalk, knocking him unconscious.

The victim, a Charleston School of Law student, was transported to MUSC for his injuries.

Boyle is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.

The investigation continues.
