CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC/AP) - A ride has been canceled from coming to the Coastal Carolina Fair after five people were hurt on it at the North Carolina State Fair.
The Vortex was planned to be here in the Lowcountry starting next week. Coastal Carolina Fair spokesman Joe Bolchoz said they are in the process of finding a replacement for the ride.
North Carolina State Fair spokesman Brian Long says officials have received preliminary reports that passengers on the Vortex were injured when the ride started up again as they were getting off Thursday night.
He says an ambulance was on the scene immediately, and that two of the injuries "appear to be serious; the other three not as serious."
Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison told a news conference the injured riders ranged in age from 14 to 39.
