Police searching for man suspected of Summerville robberies

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Police are on the lookout for a man responsible for an armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery in Summerville Thursday afternoon.

Summerville Police responded to Target in Azalea Square at 2:50 p.m. to investigate an attempted armed robbery. Witnesses say a man showed a handgun to the manager and wanted to access to the safe. Police say the suspect fled the store before he completed the robbery.

Police say less than an hour later, the same suspect went to the Shoe Department in North Main Market. The man pointed a handgun at the employee and demanded money. Police say the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of money.

He left the scene in a small gold, two-door car and left toward Interstate 26.

No injuries were reported at either of the robberies.
