Man charged in W. Ashley strong armed robbery

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police say a 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a strong armed robbery that took place in West Ashley last week.

Antavius Gadsden has been charged with first degree assault and battery and strong armed robbery.

According to police, Gadsden ran out of a wooded area on Jenkins Road and attacked a female victim who was standing outside of her storage shed on November 16 around 11 a.m.

A report states the assault lasted for approximately 15 minutes before the suspect ran back into the woods with the victim's money, car keys, and cell phone.

Gadsden is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center on a $300,000 bond.
