CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety say five people were killed on SC roads during the Thanksgiving weekend which ran from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1
According to an SCDPS report, one death was a pedestrian, and the four killed in their vehicles were not wearing seat belts.
SCDPS officials say as of Dec. 1, 690 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 787 highway deaths during the same time period in 2012.
Of the 453 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2013, 256 were not wearing seat belts.
Through midnight December 1, 82 pedestrians, 115 motorcyclists and 13 bicyclists have died on state roads and highways.
