CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police have arrested a man accused of robbing two gas stations and leading officers and Charleston County deputies on two separate chases.
It all started around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday at the Sunoco on Folly Road. Officers say a man came in, paid for a drink, then handed the clerk a note demanding money.
The second robbery happened just after 4 a.m. at the Kangaroo in the 500 block of Main Road.
According to police, the same man who robbed the Sunoco, came into the Kangaroo and demanded money. Investigators say the suspect, Bill Booker got away, but they spotted his car a short time later on Main Road.
Authorities say they followed him but stopped chasing when the driver went into Mount Pleasant.
Charleston police found his car on Savannah Highway near Carolina Bay, but officers say the suspect drove off.
An incident report states, he eventually crashed on Highway 17 near Dobbins Road, then ran.
Police arrested him about an hour later.
