Report: Victim's phone stolen while calling cops for help

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police say they are searching for two suspects who stole a man's cell phone as he was attempting to call authorities for assistance.

An incident report states the victim and his girlfriend were in a parked car on King Street on Sunday around 10:40 p.m. when "two college kids" began making vulgar comments towards the victim's girlfriend.

The two suspects also started beating on the passenger side window of the car, at which point the victim called police, the report states.

The victim told police when he got out of the car to confront the two men, one of the suspects grabbed his cell phone and ran west down Cannon Street. The victim then pushed the other suspect, who threw his girlfriend's phone before also running away.

Police say the stolen phone was an LG Optimus with a green case.
