Police searching for suspect in downtown Charleston car break-in

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department has released pictures of a man they suspect broke into a car in downtown.

On Sunday night, police responded to State and Chalmers streets in reference to a breaking and entering.

The witness said he was sitting in his living room around 7:25 p.m. when he heard a loud noise outside. When the witness looked outside, he saw the front window of a maroon PT Cruiser had been smashed.

The victim told police that she had a brown paper bag with groceries on the front passenger seat which was missing.

Police are continuing the investigation.
