Warming centers, shelters open in Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Trident United Way Hotline is announcing several warming centers and shelters open this evening and tonight for people looking to get out of the cold.

Locations that will be welcoming guests include:

  • Crisis Ministries, 573 Meeting Street. Charleston, SC.
  • Palmetto House, 107 Elks Lodge Lane. Summerville, SC.
  • Unity Baptist Church, 950 Whipple Road. MT. Pleasant, SC.
  • Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Boulevard. MT. Pleasant, SC.
  • Antioch Community Ministries, 1250 Central Avenue. Summerville, SC.
  • Hope Assembly of God, 633 King Street. Charleston, SC.

CARTA will be providing free transportation to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office Camp Facility on Leeds Avenue in North Charleston next to the Sheriff Cannon Detention Center.

CARTA will be picking up guests throughout the night at the following locations:

  • Meeting and Columbus.
  • Meeting and Lee.
  • Meeting and John near the visitor's center.
  • The CARTA bus stop on Spring St. near McDonalds.
  • Across the street from TriCounty Family Ministries.
  • The CARTA bus stops surrounding Goodwill on Rivers Avenue.
